It's time to stop the double standards
I'm getting really tired of this "thought daughter" trend. It's great that young women are embracing their intellectual and introspective sides. But let's not forget that this same crowd is often quick to dismiss traditional gender roles and claim "gender is a social construct."
So why is it okay to celebrate a "thoughtful" girl as your "daughter" while simultaneously forcing your gay son to wear a dress? Why is it empowering for some to reclaim labels, while others are shamed for not conforming to outdated expectations?
This isn't progress. It's hypocrisy. It's selective gender policing that reinforces the same harmful stereotypes we're supposedly fighting against.
If we truly believe that gender is a spectrum, then let's stop forcing people into boxes, regardless of their labels. Let's celebrate individuality and self-expression, not just when it's convenient or trendy. If you practiced what you preached it’d be a “Thought Child” or just “Thoughts” since you embrace the plural so damn much..
