many strange and wonderful phenomena are known to circulate around the universe one such phenomenon is known as the Mandela effect which is a seriously strange occurrence the Mandela effect is a term that was coined by Fiona broom in 2008 after she created a website that detailed her observations on the strange phenomena the term refers to a situation where a mass of people believed that a specific event occurred when it actually did not there are many examples of the Mandela Effect one of the most well-known ones was that of Henry VII (00:42) eating a turkey leg Henry VII was the King of England up until 1509 in paintings of Henry VII he's depicted as being tall and heavy set one of the most famous of the depictions was that of a Renaissance painting Henry is shown here as Standing Tall and wearing the cloes of a king in one hand Henry is holding a pair of leather gloves and in the other he clutches the string of a Scabbard strangely a large mass of people remember a particular painting of the king that seems to have not existed at all they remember Henry holding a (01:16) turkey leg or a drumstick in his hand in another Renaissance painting online debates had sparked over this phenomenon some have argued that such a painting could have never existed since turkey was only brought over to England after Henry had passed away in 1547 turkey was introduced into England in 1550 another source however states that Henry VII was actually a fan of turkey and another expresses that he had been the first king of England to have indulged in Turkey it is possible that they may be misremembering the famous (01:48) painting of Henry where they would see a pair of gloves as a turkey leg in the memory that most people have this leg is said to have been large larger than how the gloves appear in the painting there have been no paintings commissioned that show Henry VII eating or even holding any type of food including that of a turkey leg lack of evidence greatly supports that no such painting ever existed but it does support that strange phenomenon and how our brains interpret and remember certain details upon researching Henry VII eating a turkey (02:20) leg a variety of interpretations come up but none of these seem to match with the memory that the majority of people have one humorous depiction was that of the Cookie Monster holding a turkey leg and dressed as Henry VII The Simpsons also had their take on the matter where Homer takes the position of King it's theorized that the painting that people remember might have been confused with another painting of a completely different King they may be remembering Henry as holding a turkey leg based on their biases towards larger Kings and (02:51) men in most depictions kings are painted as a gluttonous and indulging in large quantities of food or in food that only the rich would be able to acire chire since Henry was one of the heavier Kings people would subconsciously expect him to be more gluttonous or stereotypically holding a large oily drumstick while he was in the process of being painted in a Reddit post under the subreddit r/ Mandela effect a user expressed that there are so many depictions of the false memory this must serve as enough evidence that Henry VII is somehow (03:23) associated with him holding a turkey leg this user expressed that he and many others have sworn to see this renissance painting but upon searching for it online nothing turns up most commenters on this post agree with him stating that they had also seen the painting or vaguely remember it another user suggests that this might be an effect of combined memories in most paintings of Henry VII he can always be seen holding something in his hand whether it's gloves a cane a scroll or a spy glass they point to the fact that the object (03:56) is usually always something brown They further this by stating that there are so many parody images of this phenomenon we're most likely combining two memories if that were the case then where did the parody image arise from if the false memory was not already in full swing one of the most popular Mandela effects worldwide was that of the KitKat the term Mandela effect arose when everyone had thought that Nelson Mandela had passed away while he was in prison when in fact he actually lived until 2013 this effect has since affected many (04:30) institutions including the KitKat company this strange phenomenon involves the KitKat logo having a dash in it everyone who has ever seen a KitKat chocolate bar remembers there being a dash between the two words kit and Cat followers of this false memory believe that the much loved chocolate bar had its logo altered customers who have purchased this chocolate brand state that the dash was in fact there some time back and it has since been changed in an advertisement video a cashier can be seen holding one of the KitKat parts (05:00) and lo and behold there's no dash this strange example of the Mandela effect still confuses the world to this day there do exist some images that show the KitKat bar having a dash between the two words but the current logo does not many supporters of the KitKat candy bar are not too pleased about this apparent rebranding upon searches you may come across some images that include the dash but the majority of them are dashlets one explanation for this could be that the KitKat recipe was altered the modification had come after the (05:32) company had offered quality service to its supporters KitKat was then combined with Nestle which added an enhanced flavor of milk and cocoa to the butter the goal of the new recipe was done to meet the new requirements of sugar Cuts set out by the government despite the alteration the customers were unable to tell the difference in taste between the old and new recipes the recipe change resulted in a reduction of 3 billion calories and over 1,000 tons of sugar the calories were cut down from 213 to 209 there was another slight recipe (06:05) change that occurred during the second world war due to a shortage of milk this was when the red wrapper would be introduced which most people are familiar with apart from the changing of the kitat brand the company also had to change the way that it looked rappers were altered resulting in a variety of different looking kitkats that did not include the white Dash that we all seem to remember it's been said that while there may have been a dash at some point the new rappers served as a distraction from the false memory that people were (06:34) experiencing a similar effect occurred with the famous baloney brand and hot dog brand called Oscar Meer while many believe that it was spelled Meer as M ye R along with new paper clippings and even advertising it was in fact spelled with an A M A ye e r the name Oscar Meyer spelled with the e was found on bacon packs and other food products on a yearly basis the Oscar Meer Wier mobile would drive around the country and allow youngsters to compete in a sing the jingle contest the brand had also taught its supporters how to spell their name (07:08) which turned out to be an infectious kind of jingle in a newspaper clipping The Heading rising star of an Oscar Meyer spilled with an E finalist can be seen at the top of the page with so much emphasis on this brand throughout their existence it did come as a shock to supporters when they discovered that the correct spelling was not with an e but rather with an a in another newspaper clipping the Wier mobile can be seen and on the side of it in big bold lettering the words Oscar Meyer with an a are written not with an e as others have (07:40) suggested underneath this image the caption still spells the name wrong despite it being clearly visible on the vehicle there are a plethora of advertisements and articles that spell the name incorrectly though even though the name could be clearly seen in most images for articles and advertisements the captions would almost always be spelled incorrectly adding to the Mandela effect where supporters would believe that it was spelled with an E it's even been suggested that the images of the logo were later swapped out to (08:09) say Meer with an a while the captions remained as an e a Reddit user on the subreddit Mandela effect had expressed that he always remembered the name being spelled with an A and then says now they're called Meer with an A A commenter stated that it was always spelled with an A and he knew this because of the baloney song that taught one how to spell Oscar Meer for some reason though the name will always be spelled with an e a rather strange Mandela effect was that of the cartoon show known as Looney Tunes Looney Tunes was created by Hugh (08:43) Haron in 1930 this is the cartoon that includes some of the biggest cartoon names such as Bugs Bunny Daffy Duck and the Roadrunner characters such as these would soon go on to become iconic mascots and be loved by the Looney Tune supporters there's something strange that's occurred in regard to this cartoon though Watchers of the show distinctly remember the show being called Looney Tunes spelled t n s and not Tunes T NES some believe that it was spelled using the double O method and others think it was spelled the same way that (09:15) you would spell musical Tunes While others believe both methods were used at some point one commenter stated that one of their friends even recall that it was called Looney tuni another explained that the whole thing actually bothers him because in earlier year the cartoons were called Tunes with a u and newer cartoons would be spelled using the double O this person recalls watching Space Jam where the squad was called Tune Squad using the double O when the sequel came out though it was changed to the musical tune spell another user had (09:48) explained that they remember the word being spelled t o o n e which is a combination of both methods many Watchers of the show Mostly distinctly remember the word being Tunes t o o n s it suggested that the idea of the double O method spelling derived from the way that cartoons are spelled and accidentally merg the two words adding to the false memory on a Reddit post in the subreddit Mandela Effect one user explained that Looney Tunes the classical spelling was used from 1930 to 1969 in 1988 the word Tunes with theou o (10:24) had been introduced into the film called Who Framed Roger Rabbit they furthered this by saying that the shortened version was not used until two decades after the making of Looney Tunes another redditor replied to this individual's explanation where they explained that this was not the case for them and they recall it being spelled as t o NS all of their life and growing up thinking that it was spelled this way they had even corrected the individual stating that Who Framed Roger Rabbit was not the first to coin the word another commenter (10:54) pointed to the fact that the name was initially Mary Melodies which would make the name Looney to with the classical spelling more likely but still some disagree and maintain that it was spelled using the shortened o method but later on there was a spin-off of the Looney Tunes called Tiny Tunes in which case this was spelled using the shortened spelling the first episode aired in 1990 and it's possible that the Watchers had confused the spelling of the original cartoon with the spelling of the spin-off a British individual (11:25) also gave their take on the matter they explained that they were on board with the short inversion of the word cartoon but he would pronounce the word as Tunes which had a different sound than Tunes Tunes starts off with a CH sound making it chunes they explained that it was generally American actors who were voicing the characters and they would not use the cha sound which led this individual to render the word as Tunes with the double o one redditor had also brought up the way the word cartoon is spell and that it could have played a (11:55) part in the false memory of it all another user had said speaking for all who are in support of the to ands method that they're not stupid and that something has happened that's changed this as well as various other aspects relating to the Mandela effect another redditor also made a fair point asking why they would change the spin-off to Tiny Tunes instead of using the classical original spell this particular instance has been known to cause some debate among people across the world or some remember the word being spelled (12:24) with two o's and others remember it being spelled as musical Tunes there are some theories relating to the Mandela effect in an attempt to explain why it happens to us one such theory is called the fuzzy Trace theory that was proposed by Valerie Raina as well as Charles Brainard this Theory suggests that information in our brain can be stored in two different ways one of them is verbatim and the other is gist verbatim refers to the representations that are precise literal or exact copies of events information or images the gist (13:00) however is the fuzzy representation it's General and more abstract than that of verba the fuzzy Trace theory is one that is relative to the false memory studies that found that when information is stored as gist it's more open to manipulation verbatim refers to the storing of surface aspects of an event whereas gist traces refer to how information is stored in regards to the interpretation and the context of it the fuzzy Trace theory has evolved as a response to counterintuitive information in the way in which our memory (13:30) development May influence the data of reasoning there have been a few experiments and studies carried out in relation to this Theory it's suggested that the Mandela effect is being caused by the gist method that allows room for misinterpretations and manipulations to take place another theory known as the situational strength Theory relates to social structures and Social Psychology this Theory refers to strong situations where the course of action of one aspect or event is encouraged more than any other this means that due to a (14:02) large number of individuals focusing encouraging and believing in one thing it could cause others to do the same this is further encouraged by the objective payoff such as Citizens abiding by laws with the objective payoff being personal safety the next theory is known in psychology as Theory construction a theory refers to a set of principles that are needed to explain behaviors or events and can be constructed with the use of evidence that's been gathered using research Theory construction is said to be an (14:31) important aspect of science a theory is used as an explanation for A Certain behavior in the case of the Mandela effect the construction theory states that if a true piece of information has the ability to alter a respondent's answer then so can a false piece of information in this Theory there are implications for the malleability of the memory this goes hand in hand with false memory or the fuzzy Trace Theory another theory or cause of the m effect can be accredited to something known as a false memory syndrome this (15:04) syndrome is different from false memories it's one that only becomes effective when the person believes that an influential memory is true if enough people are convinced that something is true when it's not then they'll start to believe that it is memory is said to be a rather tricky thing false memories happen all the time whether they're big or small errors in the memory we tend to trust our own memories because we don't believe that our Minds have made some sort of error this is why social (15:33) behaviors can play a large part in the Mandela effect and the altering of our memories our memories are stored with seven aspects referred to as the seven sins of memory one of the biggest ones is that of suggest ability if one is suggested that a certain event did or did not happen that memory can be altered accordingly additionally the Mind does not remember a true event but rather it remembers the last memory you had if one occurs within that memory one will continue to remember it as such until it becomes something that's not (16:05) even close to the original memory in addition to this is bias and persistence the persistence comes from the masses who continually reintroduce these theories to the public until everyone believes that something happened even if it didn't or if something was spelled differently this can also be done accidentally such as in the case with Oscar Meer in the Articles even though the name was visible the caption misspelled the the word leading to the majority of people believing that it was spelled that way and were shocked to (16:33) find out that it wasn't blocking transience misattribution and absent-mindedness all play a part in the way we remember a certain day that being said while our brains might be the subject of false memory it's also possible that certain things in our earlier lives did in fact change such as in the case of Looney Tunes and KitKat these could all be subjects to rebranding and then for corporations to convince the majority that it was like that the whole time when they believed that it was not another prominent case of the (17:06) Mandela effect is that of the Mona Lisa smiling many of us remember that in the painting of the Mona Lisa the woman did not have much of a smile on her face in some instances we recall that she was the most unhappy looking woman who didn't smile some people may have even been referred to as the Mona Lisa if they were being moody most of us distinctly remember that the Mona Lisa never smiled but but much to your surprise she was smiling on the subreddit Mandela Effect one user brings this to attention the redditor explained (17:37) that they were a graphic designer and that they'd come across something that stated that the Mona Lisa never had a smile or a smirk they write quote that's right she never did this person as many will do went on to Google to pull up an image of the original Mona Lisa painting and lo and behold she was smiling the individual expressed that the hair on their arms even stood up once they realized that the memory had had been a lie they wrote in their post that it appeared as though someone had liquefied (18:03) the Face's painting in Photoshop the person explained that the image just does not look how they remembered it they also pointed to the fact that they've never seen her with a veil on this user would go on to say that they were really fascinated with this painting even before learning about the smile and had even watched tons of documentaries on the artwork the redditor explained that the Mona Lisa was depicted as a mysterious type of person which led to the theory that it may have even been a portrait of (18:30) Leonardo da Vinci the painter of the artwork to this individual and many others the Mona Lisa had always had a blank and depressive facial expression for many of us this painting didn't have a smile or even so much as a smirk the reditor even states that the smiling painting actually creeps them out the user then edited the image that he found so that it would look more like how he remembered it he placed the image into Photoshop and removed the veil which many others also don't remember being the in the first plates they then (19:01) removed the smile and made it neutral before erasing the dimples that could be seen caused by the slight smile it was also noted by the redditor that the mouth region appeared smooth as if it had been airbrushed which was a contrast to the rest of her face which clearly shows the effects of the aging process of artworks they thought that the airbrushed look appeared to stand out and so they added the same texture from her forehead to the mouth area then they left the link at the bottom of their post showing the supposedly original (19:28) Mona Lisa and their newly edited version as how they remembered it the user's rendition certainly appears a lot more natural and how most of us would have remembered the Mona Lisa one commenter explained that the right-hand image of the two was the one that they recall CA ususer explained that there had been shading on the cheek of the Mona Lisa that could have been interpreted as a smile but that there was no Smile as far as their memory goes the redditor further explained in their comment that there was also something different about (19:57) the eyes that they just couldn't pinpoint in the post someone mentioned a movie called The Da Vinci Code with one scene that features the Mona Lisa painting this artwork is said to resemble the memories more than what the Google searches seem to produce another person attributed this event to something other than the Mandela effect they believe that as children our minds are unable to identify what a smirk is and only understand full Smiles or laughter or just being straight-faced but a good selection of people who (20:27) remember the Mona Lisa not smiling were already more competent at the stage when they had viewed this painting this might just be another false memory or a slightly altered memory or perhaps the Monona Lisa's mouth has been redone somewhere along the line and all the evidence of that has been removed the Mandela effect is a term used to describe when a large group of people or a majority share a common memory of something that's now entirely different from what they initially believed some suggest that this is due (21:00) to a glitch in The Matrix or a switching of realities psychology explains that this is due to misremembering information and is largely affected by media as well as mass hysteria there exist many examples of this strange phenomenona Captain Crunch or Captain Crunch there are some who believe that the Captain Crunch cereal was called Capen Crunch and to some this is a very real memory and they're shocked to discover that the word c was never used 5 years ago a redditor had taken to the subreddit Mandela effect and explained (21:35) the issue at hand it was some time prior that they'd seen people complaining what the serial was called the poster explained that they have a journal of Mandela effects where they jot each one down in case it changes again sometime in the future they will have written evidence of the fact the redditor also noted that the Froot Loops serial was also changed to Froot Loops spelled with two o upon further research they discovered that Captain Crunch was changed back to Captain Crunch one commenter had posted (22:07) a link to an image from the friends Series where a box of cap and crunch can be seen a more recent comment stated that this only proved how much reality shifts initially they'd been seeing Captain Crunch and always knew it as Captain Crunch but now they were seeing it as Captain and not captain and they're entirely confused about the whole thing some some suggest that the serial name had been changing and was initially CPP before becoming captain and then switching back again for others this is some sort of strange phenomenon (22:39) or as the commenter suggested a switch of realities one user also suggested that physical evidence should be collected boxes of cereal and other items should be bought and kept in storage so that when there's another change there's more evidence to go on there are two variations to this particular Mandela effect while May believe that the 1963 serial was called C crunch it was actually always Captain Crunch it stated that the spelling has never changed but according to others it changed a few times where some believe (23:12) it was initially called CPP and then captain and then back to cabin whereas other variations suggest it was Captain Crunch and always has been it is noted that companies spend a lot of money on branding and making a name to popularize their product so changing the spelling might do something to affect that but the belief that the spelling of the cial was changed a few times is a perfect example as to what the Mandela effect phenomenon is this example is split between two sides where some remember Captain Crunch and the others remember (23:45) Ka Kapp crunch even has a Twitter account under the name real CPP crunch spelled as kappen CN not as Captain as some may remember it there are more people who seem to recall that it was said as Captain Crunch and they're now freaked out as one person stated because of the change of name they said that they could not even look at their box of cereal the same way one user on this platform had stated that they also referred to it as Captain Crunch it's un which of these are correct but for the time being the serial is currently known (24:18) as kappit should the name change in the future and all internet evidence be erased the Journal of the redditor will surely back up the claims there also exist different variations on how cap and crunch cial boxes looked with differences in color and design so if such variations exist it would not be far-fetched to believe that there's an alternate spelling of the cial somewhere along the line people remain highly suspicious of these supposed changes and maintain that their memory served them correctly as do many of us the cause of (24:51) the Mandela effect is still not entirely understood and it continues to be investigated to this day with only theories being produced as to what may cause it risky business is a 1983 romantic comedy film starring Tom Cruz in one scene of the movie Cruz who's playing the part of Joel Goodson can be seen in a white shirt wearing sunglasses and dancing in the room but the scene actually didn't appear as such despite many people remembering it that way Cruz actually didn't wear any glasses in the sea and he also wore a light pink shirt (25:28) not a white one many individuals have even dressed up as this memory for Halloween and would be shocked to find that their attire was wrong all along in a Reddit post on the subreddit Mandela Effect one person explained that they'd been watching a Disney Channel show called Jesse where one of the children had reenacted that exact scene he wore a white shirt and sunglasses it appears the script writers of this show have the same false memory as many others do one person had commented that in 1885 there was an SNL sketch where (26:01) the glasses were used this bit had been done so many times in various shows and other films and referenced on multiple occasions the user explains that due to all of this it seems that our memories have been blurred and the majority are convinced that this is the way the original movie went others seem to disagree with this idea one user recalled that Cruz had been wearing sunglasses did a little Spin and then ripped the glasses off but stated that this heart was no longer there as they remembered it if this scene didn't take (26:33) place as many remember it then why is it referenced exactly that way in so many movies and TV shows it may be possible as one user stated that due to the skits people may have combined the two and created a false memory and mass hysteria in social media only egged on the whole Mandela effect but there are many people who believe that this phenomenon is occurring due to the presence of alternate realities and other worlds where only insignificant data is being altered on another social media platform called steemit another individual (27:06) expressed that when they were a child they would reenact the scene and use her grandfather's white button-up shirt and his sunglasses they would also Glide over the floor in their socks to portray the famous scene she then expressed that the scene is a bit different now saying that the shirt is pink and there are no sunglasses on Cruz's face an image was also listed here of people wearing what they remember the attire to be for Halloween they're wearing a white shirt and sunglasses is it possible that everyone (27:36) is remembering the exact same thing incorrectly that being said not everyone remembers the scene with Cruz wearing sunglasses and only recalls that the sunglasses appeared later on in the film to indicate that the character had changed the poster further explains that the Mandela effect is the term used for thousands if not more isolated incidents of people remember ing that President Nelson Mandela had passed away in prison while misremembering and false memories may be among the top explanations for this phenomena some suggest that one (28:08) should look into the concepts of theories such as parallel realities and quantum physics as possible causes of this effect it's also found that cognitive dissonance may also be a common symptom of this but again is this the majority suffering from the exact same effect or is there more to the phenomenon than we may currently understand understand this is not the only film that's become part of the Mandela effect another film is that of the Matrix which is later discussed along with this is the DAR Vader moment (28:40) where everyone thought he said Luke I am your father only to discover later that it was no I am your father or c3po's silver leg that was not there in the numerous times that some individuals had watched it there are many more examples of this phenomenon that are yet to be completely and convincingly solved aside from films and shows there are many other examples of this phenomenon ranging from food brands to classical paintings and much more that cause the majority to believe that they may in fact be traveling through many different (29:11) realities perhaps we are and that's a theory that should certainly be explored for now though we know that it was a pink shirt that Cruz had worn until the next alteration that may or may not present itself in the future what happened to Shaggy Adam's Apple this is the question surrounding this example of the Mandela effect in the Scooby-Doo cartoon series the animators had created the much loved and rather nervous character Shaggy Rogers to the trusty memory of many individuals Shaggy had an Adams Apple but in some (29:45) internet searches there does not appear to be an Adams apple on the well-known version of the character most viewers remember that the Adams Apple was used for comical effect when Shaggy had eaten something or when he had gulped in fear but but many individuals remember seeing the Adams Apple throughout the entirety of the episode The Mandela effect was brought to attention 6 years ago on a Reddit subreddit titled Mandela effect the person who posted it also linked a list of images of the various versions of Shaggy with only one of them showing (30:16) an Adam's apple one Reddit user initially commented that they recall there being an Adam's apple during the fear gulps that both Scooby and Shaggy would take and it would only appear for that sequence they later posted an edit stating that someone had reviewed some Scooby-Doo episodes and discovered that there were only a few scenes where Scooby and Shaggy would Gulp and when they did so there had been no Adams Apple present they went on to say that this was a peculiar thing since they also remember there being an Adam's (30:46) apple in some instances of the cartoon if not throughout the entire course of it others also recall that this would only appear for comical effect and that it did happen rather frequently some accounted the fact that the Adams Apple was a huge part of shaggi's identity as a character because he was generally very nervous and fearful in the much newer remakes of the cartoon Shaggy does appear to have an Adams Apple but was this due to the animators remembering that he had one in the original cartoon or was it just something they decided to (31:17) add in all on their own additionally not a lot of people have seen the recent cartoon remake of Scooby-Doo so it's unlikely that this is where the false memory or Mandela effect is original originating from in the comments one person had linked a website showing the newer cartoon but it was found that when someone had tried to open it it appeared the website was taken down one user stated that it seemed like someone was trying to hide the truth about the existence of multiple universes but later the website was restored a (31:48) redditor had stated that shaggi's chin was large and pronounced and that perhaps everyone was misremembering the chin as the Adams Apple but this didn't seem to be the case with some individuals another user stated that his neck and throat look too smooth now and certainly seem out of place the list of different Shaggy variants dates all the way back to 1972 in which not a single variant has an Adams Apple this goes on up until 2015 when a random Shaggy version appears with the Adams Apple in the reboot be cool Scooby-Doo but disappears (32:23) again in the ones that follow never to be seen again in this reboot some viewers expressed that it was a nice reference to the original cartoon but if one were to go and rewatch The Original cartoon they would come to find that there is in fact no Adams Apple anywhere in the cartoon there even exists an image of two versions of Shaggy side by side where one had an Adams Apple that was edited in with this addition the character looks a lot more natural and closer to how everyone remembers it there are others who have even bet their (32:54) lives on the idea that shaggy did have an Adams Apple during the original cartoon T so what happened to Shaggy's Adams Apple could this just be another effect of false memory and mass hysteria or are things of the past being altered for some reason some have even suggested that this is a glitch in The Matrix or simulation that we supposedly partake it in the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants one of the prominent characters is Sandy Cheeks the squirrel when not in her underwater dome Sandy would wear something that looked like a space suit (33:28) it's white and is equipped with a helmet additionally it also has a backpack or did it most people who have watched the cartoon remember that she was equipped with a white or gray backpack that everyone assumed was her oxygen tank some remember there being a tube attached to it as well which only supported the theory of an oxygen tank in fact this is another misremember Sandy never had a backpack except for in one of the episodes where she was equipped with a jetpack but it didn't resemble the memory that most of us have (34:00) commenters of the subreddit Mandela effect seem to agree most of them distinctly remember the white or gray bag that was on the squirrel's back throughout the cartoon the poster had stated that Sandy had a white rectangular backpack but they could find no mention of it online and so they turned to Reddit to see if others remembered the same thing and they did one user commented that they remember having SpongeBob character toys when they were a child and one of these toys was Sandy who came with the detachable (34:30) backpack another user had responded to this comment with a link to the toy that he was possibly speaking of there were a few detachable items as seen but no rectangular backpack as the user remembered another commenter pointed to the fact that she's wearing a space suit and space suits do have backpacks so it would make sense that one would think she was equipped with one but looking back at images of the character now makes her seem bare or incomplete one one user said that the backpack was a light gray color with rounded edges (35:02) while another remembered it to be exactly as it was described they recalled that there had been circles on the shape that made it look like an oxygen conversion system they were shocked to find that the Sandy Cheeks backpack existed nowhere not even in the games not everyone remembers her having a bag but a good majority do this could be another instance of misremembering as some users indicate in one or two episodes she had worn a jetpack if this were the case that could mean that the majority of people may have just (35:33) Associated the backpack with the character and thought that they'd seen her wear it throughout the entirety of the cartoon as one suggested another explanation could be associating a spacit with a backpack and just thinking that Sandy would have been equipped with one based on the knowledge we have of space suits some individuals are able to figure out that they may have misremembered something such as one user who thought that Sandy had a purple backpack but upon looking up some imag they quickly realized how they think (36:00) they came to this they had accidentally combined the memory of the jetpack shape with the color of the character's bikini another user stated that they truly remember a backpack and that it even had a tube which was not always there They too had a toy of the Sandy character with a backpack one of the most recurring sentences found in the Mandela effect comments is but it's gone now this suggests that some beli that something was there and then edited out later on perhaps they remember it from a different reality a Tik Tok user had (36:32) also covered the story and played clips from the SpongeBob cartoon sy's backpack isn't there the viewers were in utter confusion upon seeing him additionally in this clip sy's taale is not there this alludes to the idea that there had been different versions of the character when the cartoonists were creating her this could include the version where she didn't have a backpack the Tik tocker reveals all the different Sandy versions at the end of the video and not a single one of them has a backpack they ranged (37:02) from 1999 all the way to 2019 if the backpack had been edited out then what would be the reason to erase the entire idea from existence one user had even expressed that Sandy had explained what the backpack had been used for in one of the episodes this really strange phenomenon continues to plague the world with no convincing explanation if this is due to a false memory then how is it that so many many individuals are remembering the same false memory it's suggested by scientists and psychologists that the (37:34) shared delusion may be a result of something similar to mass hysteria most people who have watched the movie The Matrix seemed to remember a specific line being spoken the following line was believed to been spoken by Morpheus while he was explaining the Matrix to Neo saying quote what if I told you everything you knew was a lie well that mem in itself is a Lie the line never existed despite everyone clearly remembering it including some redditors on the subreddit Mandela effect there appears to be some unanimity in the comment (38:09) section that alludes to the idea that the sentence was part of the script one redditor who also remembers this sentence released the script from that particular seene and the sentence everyone remembers is not there one of the commenters explained that when the movie first came out he and his brother had watched it at least 20 times together this individual stated that he had recently come to hear about the Mandela effect and discovered that this line that he and his brother remember never existed at all the way he had phrased it (38:39) was quote the line didn't exist anymore he then rewatched the movie himself and it was in fact not uttered during the entirety of it the user had explained that he had a shiver run down his spine and could also Imagine morpheus's voice saying this very line and so he quickly called his brother he explained the situation and and his brother relayed the line word for word as they both remembered it the user then went on to inform him that the line had never existed another redditor had stated that the line was 100% there and that they (39:10) had changed it he asked what scene it was from and what the line was so he could prove that it existed but to no avail another Reddit user explained that they remember the line as what if I told you everything you knew to be true which differs slightly from what others appeared to remember while another person stated that the movie does not say it at all and remembers the line being everything you knew was a lie it's strange that a vast majority of people seem to remember the same thing in fact there have been memes made about that (39:40) particular line This example of the Mandela effect is said to be one of the eeriest ones in film anyone who has watched the movie recalls the moment Neo sits down with Morpheus who explains the Matrix to him including this particular lie and after that Neo takes the red pill this was an iconic moment in the film so much so that viewers seemed to share the false memory of it if everyone seems to remember that scene and that sentence with slight variations it's difficult to be convinced that it was just another (40:12) false memory some have suggested that the film was edited with that sentence taken out but there doesn't appear to be any reasoning behind why anyone would need to do that millions of fans argue against the fact that the words were never said then rewatching the movie one will find that the iconic sentence really isn't there could the memes that were created have played a role in the shared false memory that viewers seem to have if the line was never said then how did the memes even come into play in the (40:40) first place there are some questions that one may ask themselves when trying to figure out how this could possibly be the case it was expressed by another individual that they'd become distressed while trying to figure this out because they too like many others remember that exact line and the voice of Morpheus saying it some people remember slight variations of the initial sentence some recall that line being what if I told you that everything you'd been led to believe is a lie which to some may sound (41:11) like the actual sentence from the movie another redditor had looked at various articles explaining the shared memory away and then stated that they don't face him and that this whole place is backwards whether the line existed or not we may never come to know the question of whether the past can be changed has also come about it's said that scientists may be exploring the exact concept with theories ranging from quantum mechanics to the many world's interpretation one of the most tedious tasks to do at school is to learn the (41:44) names of all the presidents of the United States throughout history though there have only been 46 presidents so far remembering all their names is Quite a feat and most people wouldn't be able to name the entire list if they were asked to though this is completely understandable some people use a trick when they try and name the past presidents which is try to remember the faces that they see printed on money every day but not everyone is aware that this won't always work since not everyone who appears on money has served (42:12) as president one of the most common mistakes when naming past presidents is to think of Alexander Hamilton who many are surprised to learn was never actually president though his face is printed on the $10 bill similarly Benjamin Franklin's face appears on the $100 bill though he's also never served as US president despite many people believing that he did it may be because of this misconception that many people believe they've encountered a Mandela effect when they think about Alexander Hamilton as they're adamant that he did (42:43) serve as president at one point but are shocked to find that the history books say otherwise the truth of the matter is that Hamilton would likely have become president were it not for a pamphlet that he published in 1797 which contained details of an affair that he was having with a woman named Maria Reynolds who was married at the time according to the pamphlet Reynolds arrived at Hamilton's house in 1791 and told him that she and her children had been abandoned by her abusive husband and asked if he could (43:13) help her with some money so that she could get to New York and seek help from her friends later he went to the rooming house where she was staying and gave her $30 after which they started an affair when Reynold's husband found out what was happening he blacked black mailed Hamilton demanding that he paid $11,000 for a silence on the matter he paid the amount but her husband kept asking for money and in 1792 Hamilton decided to end the relationship for good in August of 1797 Hamilton published the pamphlet (43:45) which then became known as the Hamilton pamphlet and laid bare the entire scenario including the blackmail demands and payments that had been made this left his wife shocked and humiliated his chances of ever becom president of the United States had been ruined but he managed to save what was left of his career and still had the ear of president at the time John Adams however he and Adams would become embroiled in a feud just before the 1800 election took place in Thomas Jefferson would eventually take over as president (44:16) and the Federalist Party started its decline on the 11th of July 1804 Hamilton engaged in a duel with one of his political Rivals Aaron Burr in 1804 Bur decided to run as independent rather than Republican something that irked Hamilton to no end and he did everything in his power to dissuade the Federalists from supporting him after losing the election Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel and in the early hours of the 11th of July he came off the worst losing his life the following day thanks to the wound that he'd received and so he never (44:50) served as president but today continues to baffle those who believe he's part of a Mandela effect the popular Disney character Mickey Mouse has been in existence for 100 years since he was first created on the 18th of November 1928 but at the time he was called Mortimer though this moniker didn't last long before it was changed to Mickey it said that the name was changed because Mickey's Creator Walt Disney's wife Lillian didn't think it was a good fit since it sounded too pompus and since (45:22) Mickey would serve as the Disney company's mascot they needed a name that was more suited to the brand the first two cartoons that featured Mickey didn't make much of an impact but when the now famous short called Steamboat Willie was released it took the World by storm since it was the first ever animated release to feature synchronized music and sound effects just a few months later Mickey was all the rage and a slew of Mickey inspired merchandise was released 2 months after that the Mickey Mouse Club was established and it was (45:52) only a matter of time before both Mickey and Walt Disney would become household names all over the world Mickey would receive a complete makeover in 1935 when animator Fred Moore changed the shape of the mouse's body and he also added pupils to his eyes gave him the white gloves that we've all come to know so well and changed the shape of his face to give him a cuter appearance in the 1950s The Mickey Mouse Club first aired on television and Disney movies started being shown in cinemas the first being Snow White in the Seven Dwarves (46:26) which was an instant hit in for the time being Mickey took a step back from the spotlight but while he didn't make as many appearances on screen as he did before he still remained as popular as ever and today Mickey Mouse merchandise still accounts for around 40% of the Disney company's product profits in 1988 he appeared in The Who Framed Roger Rabbit film along with the Warner Brothers Bugs Bunny and his since also appeared in video games notably being included in Kingdom Hearts though he first debuted in this medium in 1984 (46:59) in a game called Mickey's Space Adventure there's no doubt that Mickey is one of the most iconic animated characters ever created which makes it all the more strange that he's the subject of a Mandela effect for more than one reason some people seem to remember that Mickey wore suspenders along with his iconic outfit but the reality is he never did but a far more common false memory is that he never had a tale but looking back at his earlier iterations even as far back as Steamboat Willie it is certain that he's always (47:30) had one and no one is quite certain where this false memory originated the most plausible explanation is that he's likely being confused with a different cartoon character raisin brand is a breakfast cereal that's enjoyed by millions of people all around the world on a daily basis and it's likely to remain a popular choice for a very long time to come as it seen as being both healthy and delicious but while staying at The Breakfast Table reading the serial box that it's packed in it's hard to imagine (48:00) that raisin brand was once the focus of an intense legal battle and that today it's one of the better known cases of the Mandela effect most people will know raisin brand as a product of the hugely successful Kelloggs brand but they might not be aware of the fact that it was once owned solely by a company called Skinner not much was different back then from the product that we know today since it contained brand Flakes and raisins the only real difference was in the way the name was presented Ed on the box as it was written as raisin Das bran (48:30) with a hyphen between the two words and bran being written in capital letters since the serial proved hugely popular Skinner decided to tradem mark it so that no one else could cash in on their idea but this strategy didn't last long as two other companies soon decided that they wanted to sell a similar product for the next 17 years though Skinner enjoyed their Monopoly of the product but in 1942 all of that changed that year both Kelloggs and general Foods released a new cereal that contained the same ingredients and to make matters (49:04) worse both companies called their versions raisin Brad understandably this caused a huge uproar at Skinner since the name had been trademarked and they assumed it would be safe from CopyCats in an effort to settle the matter the company made contact with both kellogs and general foods to remind them that the name could not be used since they owned the trademark they suggested that the two companies come up with a different name to spare everyone a lot of confusion but neither of their competitors was willing to do so and (49:33) before long the matter ended up in court Skinner argued that the name belonged to them and them alone since the trademark had been granted many years prior but there was one aspect that they hadn't considered and it ended up costing them the case the court argued that if the cereal contained no raisins it would simply be brand Flakes and so brand flakes containing raisins should not be a trademark since one couldn't simply trademark something like raisin muffins or raisin bread as a brand name furthermore since both the competing (50:04) companies had their names printed on the boxes no one could mistake it for a different brand and so there couldn't be any confusion when the product was being purchased Skinner disagreed and attempted to reopen the case after judgment was given but this appeal was denied and so there are many different versions of raisin brand available on the market today as for the Mandela effect that's associated with the Kellog brand thousands of people around the world remember that the mascot a friendly son wore sunglasses on the box (50:33) and they're confused when they learn that actually he never has it's been suggested that since he's a bright and sunny character people merely assumed that he should be wearing sunglasses as he would be on a bright sunny day they simply didn't study the Box closely enough it's amazing when dealing with the Mandela effect just how many cases involve brand names and logos from days gone by while some of these may seem obviously incorrect to some of us there are thousands of people who insist that (51:02) the logos have been changed without their knowledge at some point even when they're confronted with cold heart proof they're adamant that their memories would never betray them and that there's something more Sinister going on though what the reason would be for this deception is yet to be explained one good example of this is the GIF peanut butter brand that also has a surprise hidden in the logo internet users have noticed that when the bottle is turned upside down the letters still look the same and still seem to spell the word (51:30) Jeff while many people speculated that this was done on purpose as a clever marketing technique a spokesman from the company has stated that this certainly isn't the case since their archives don't have any information on such a ploy being used but this isn't the only surprising thing about the brand when some internet users stumbled across posts about the logo's interchangeable nature they were stunned to find that they'd been pronouncing it wrong their entire lives thousands of people have (51:58) taken to their social media accounts to say that they clearly remember eating this particular brand of peanut butter in the past and that it used to be called Jiffy peanut butter rather than Jeff one Reddit user posted that they have clear memories of holding the jar in their hand when they were younger and that the label read Jiffy another added that she ate Jiffy peanut butter every day when she was a child and there was no plausible explanation other than the suggestion that it had been changed at some point when this happens some people (52:26) go on the the hunt for evidence that their memories aren't at fault and in this case a man stumbled across a YouTube video in which a customer at a Sacramento restaurant called Fanny ANS finds a drawing of a jiffy peanut butter container on the menu another stated that they actually noticed when the brand changed their name on the jar about 18 years ago and they had no idea what the Mandela effect was at the time many years later they stumbled across a post on the internet explaining what the Mandela effect was and as an example the (52:56) article listed GIF peanut butter and it was only then that they realized that Jiffy peanut butter is supposed to have never existed and they vehemently disagreed a different Reddit user speculated that the Brand's logo was likely changed in the 1990s to make the name shorter and to better fit with the three-color logo they further stated that the company then erased all traces of Jiffy peanut butter from the market as they were likely concerned that consumers would be confused by the new name and mentioned that this kind of (53:25) thing is done by companies on a regular basis the fact of the matter is though that Jiffy brand peanut butter has never existed and it's easy to see why people are getting confused Skippy peanut butter is a hugely popular brand and one can't blame people for getting the two mixed up in their minds one internet user added that if Jiffy really did exist surely someone somewhere would have kept one of the jars and posted a picture of it to one of these threads is proof but this of course has never been done 198 5 saw the release of the film (53:59) Return to Oz which served as an unofficial sequel to the famous movie The Wizard of Oz and it opened to mixed reviews with some people finding it below par when compared to its predecessor which is considered to be a classic but the film is also remembered for another reason since it was the first time that the Fantasy Castle logo was used before the film started something that Disney fans have grown accustomed to as many people online have mentioned there seems to be a misconception that Tinkerbell who hailes (54:27) from the famous Peter Pan stories used to always appear on screen along with the castle she would then fly around the screen scattering fairy dust as the words Walt Disney appeared and before the movie started she would use her wand to dot the eye before flying off the screen once more but in reality this never happened causing a lot of people to wonder if they have faulty memories or if something was changed without them realizing since then many internet users have done their best to find the elusive intro but they've all come up (54:58) empty-handed one person wrote that they remember seeing the iconic intro when they were about 5 years old and that it used to be on Disney films that were released on VHS they added that more modern DVDs have a different intro but even he was unable to find the original that he's so sure that he saw as a child there are others who claim that the intro did exist but that the Tinker Bell that was used in the original looked different from the one that we know today another person stated that the animation everyone was talking about only appeared (55:28) at the beginning of the Peter Pan film and it was never used on any of Disney's other releases despite so many people being certain that Tinkerbell appeared on screen many others have assured them that this intro never existed with one man stating that he'd never seen the Tinkerbell intro and that he had no memory that she ever dotted the eye before a film started Disney Productions are Infamous for yielding Mandela effect Mysteries and the Tinkerbell instance is only one of many that have been discovered over the last few years (55:58) another example comes from the film 101 Dalmatian the villain in the tale is a woman who attempts to steal a family's farm and to do so she kidnaps the family's puppies and holds them at Ransom demanding that the family turn their Farm over to her she's one of the most iconic Disney villains ever created along with the evil queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves but despite the film being as popular as it is even all these years later many people are unaware that they been spelling the villain's name wrong all their lives (56:30) while they could be forgiven for spelling it as Cruella devil since it sounds a lot like the real world last name it's actually spelled corilla de Ville with no extra L and e at the end this was done intentionally to allude to the words cruel and devil and while most people understand this reference they miss the fact that her last name is simply spelled as it is it's yet another Disney Mandela effect that many people find hard to come to terms with those of us who drive cars every day waste a lot of time stuck in traffic and (57:04) one would think that this would give us the opportunity to observe what's going on around us but judging by one particular Mandela effect mystery it seems that this isn't the case in recent years people have started posting on internet threads that they've either been transported into an alternate reality or they can no longer trust their memories thanks to a common site traffic lights one Reddit user posted that they undoubtedly remember traffic lights having a red light at the bottom an amber light in the middle and a green (57:33) light at the top and that they recently started noticing that it's the other way around they added that they first noticed the change while they were taking a bike safety test and they realized they'd gotten this question wrong since they firmly believed that the green light was situated at the top strangely this post was inundated by replies from people who remember the same thing and soon a debate started as to who was right and who was wrong there's been a lot of speculation as to how so many people could be wrong about (58:00) the same thing especially since it's such a common site it's been suggested that traffic lights are positioned one way in certain States while they're the other way around in others but other commenters quickly put an end to this discussion by stating that all traffic lights are presented in a standard way throughout the United States others then suggested that they might be the other way around in other countries but since the original poster has never been out of the country this would not not have (58:26) affected their memory to the point where they remember the lights being the wrong way around there's also been speculation that some of the people who remember the green being at the top may be colorblind that they only perceive the lights being arranged this way but that doesn't account for the fact that such a large group of people now see them the way everyone else does this Mandela effect is not only a strange one but could prove to be very dangerous since someone who doesn't read traffic lights (58:52) correctly could very easily skip the light when it's read and cause a serious accident but this however is not the only Mandela effect that deals with traffic one Reddit user posted that he used to use a certain tunnel in West Virginia quite often and he used to play a game where he would try to hold his breath until he emerged on the other side he could never quite make it out the other side without having to draw another breath but then one day he did it easily and realized that the tunnel was suddenly much shorter than it used (59:20) to be before another redditor added that he also used to drive through a tunnel in Phoenix Arizona on a regular basis and at first he had no problem at seeing while inside the tunnel since it was well lit with long fluorescent lights but then one day he entered the tunnel and found it much harder to navigate since it was much darker when he looked at the lights he realized they' suddenly changed to Yellow colored pot lights that were far less effective it's likely that these lights were merely swapped (59:48) out but it was adamant that the change was too Swift and that it must be a Mandela effect there are 195 countries in the world but most of us will only be able to point out the biggest and best known ones on an atlas though there are thousands of people who have memorized them all and can recount them whenever they want as for the rest of us we would likely need to consult a map if we were asked where some of the smaller and more obscure countries are but one Mandela effect that's left a lot of people stumped (1:00:20) doesn't have to do with one of these countries but rather an entire continent though most people don't have the world map memorized most of us have a fair idea of where most countries are since we have a mental image of the map in our heads we also don't spend much time looking at atlases since it isn't part of our daily lives but when it comes to identifying the location of continents most of us would do quite well that is unless we're asked to identify South America's location in a very strange (1:00:49) Mandela effect mystery people have started to realize that they have a false memory of where South America is situated one think that it's one of the easier ones for you to remember since it's situated right below North America but if that was your thinking you'd be dead wrong the reality is that South America is actually situated below and to the east of North America which has come as a great shock to some users on one Reddit thread a user stated that they remember learning in school that South America was situated directly (1:01:19) beneath its counterpart and they even remember seeing it that way on a world map that they were using fellow Reddit users have suggested that they might remember it this way since they're from a different country and added that most people in the United States wouldn't make the same error since they're more familiar with the two continents but there are other similar Mandela effects where large groups of people remember the map being different one example being that Australia is now suddenly situated much closer to Indonesia than (1:01:47) it used to be or that New Zealand used to be north of Australia rather than South the same user posted that they found the archipelago of fabert to the North of Sweden and Norway but that they have no memory of it ever being on the map while they were studying geography at school they added they used to have a map of the world in their room when they were a child and that they studied it religiously only to Now find out they'd been mistaken all these years it's been suggested that some people may only have (1:02:16) had access to outdated or incorrupt maps that showed these countries in continents in the wrong places but those Maps will have been done away with for some time and it seems likely that someone would not have seen a more modern or more accurate one there are many different theories as to why so many people share this false memory of South America but in reality it's always been situated in the same spot on the world map despite this shared false memory that so many people are experiencing the PokΓ©mon franchise is (1:02:48) one that took the World by storm when it was released in February of 1996 and despite its age the characters still remain hugely popular popular with the show's fans as well as video game addicts in the Animated Series a young boy named Ash catchup has a dream of becoming a PokΓ©mon master and to do so he and his first PokΓ©mon Pikachu travel around the world collecting more of the creatures and battling other PokΓ©mon trainers along the way they team up with Brock and Misty two other PokΓ©mon trainers who aim to help Ash make his (1:03:20) dream a reality but as is the case in any good animated series they're constantly being harassed by two villains known as Team Rocket together they enter tournaments in the PokΓ©mon League in an effort to improve their skills and as the story progresses viewers meet many more of the creatures and are able to familiarize themselves with each PokΓ©mon's Powers though most of us are familiar with the series The Concept actually started out as roleplaying games that were released on the Game Boy gaming console after the (1:03:47) games proved to be hugely successful they were followed by a manga series a trading card game and eventually it was turned into the animated series that most people are familiar with but its popularity didn't end there on the 6th of July 2016 an augmented reality game called PokΓ©mon go was released for Android and iOS devices giving fans the opportunity to hunt and catch their own PokΓ©mon which they could pit against others the game proved hugely successful and shortly after it's released it wasn't uncommon to see people hunting (1:04:19) for the creatures in public spaces with some people traveling vast distances to capture some of the more rare characters that they could then add to their own the game quickly became a global Phenomenon with people comparing the distances that they had walked to acquire their creatures and many stated that it was a healthy way to game since they got some exercise while searching for new additions to their inventory there can be no doubt that this is one of the biggest animated franchises the world has ever seen which makes it all (1:04:47) the more perplexing that PokΓ©mon contains one of the better known examples of the Mandela effect the mystery in question centers on Ash's PokΓ©mon and friend Pikachu who's also probably the most recognizable of all the PokΓ©mon many fans have stated they remember the creatures lightning bolt-shaped tail having a black section near the end and they're often stomped when they find out that their memories have betrayed them however it isn't just a few people here and there who remember this detail as thousands of people all (1:05:16) around the world have the same memory despite the character's tale just being yellow this false memory could have originated from the fact that Pikachu has yellow ears that are with black coloring and they likely expected this detail to be carried over to its tail which is understandable some of the character's features were indeed changed over the years it was once drawn as quite chubby but has been slimmed down in more modern versions and it once had a white muzzle that's now no longer present but one characteristic that's (1:05:46) never changed is its tail it's always been yellow and never contained a black tip despite the insistence of some fans that a change was made at some point without their knowledge you may remember sitting in class while you were in school and learning about the forest fire prevention mascot called Smoky the Bear who used to warn everyone of the dangers of leaving a campfire unattended or failing to kill a fire before leaving a campsite Smokey made his first appearance in 1944 but not everyone is aware of the (1:06:16) fact that he only came to be thanks to the second world war in 1942 while the war was in full swing a Japanese submarine attacked an oil field field that was situated close to Santa Barbara News of this attack spread panic among members of the public and there was a real concern that these types of attacks could cause the Los Padres National Forest to catch fire and it would be a lot of damage done while fires caused by explosives would indeed be very dangerous there was also the fact that forest fires were being unintentionally (1:06:47) started by people who were camping out in the woods and who weren't informed about how to prevent these fires from starting or spreading in the first place in no time the prevention and control of these fires became a matter of national importance and it was decided that a method had to be found by which members of the public could become better informed some of these types of measures were already in place at the time one being a poster that showed a forest ranger pointing outward and stating your Forest your fault your law but still 90% (1:07:19) of forest fires were being caused by careless campers and something new had to be done hence the cooperative forest fire prevention program was created and soon posters were put up that contained logos such as forest fires Aid the enemy and our carelessness their secret weapon The Hope was that these catchy phrases would stick in people's minds and they would become more responsible when camping but in 1944 they went a step further by using the Bambi character as a mascot the campaign proved hugely successful but Bambi couldn't be used in (1:07:52) later campaigns since the character was the property of Disney and so a new one had to be created to ensure that the character would be instantly associated with the forest the decision was made that a bear would be the perfect fit and so in August of 1944 Smokey Bear was created that may sound like a mispronunciation since you may remember the mascot's name being Smokey the Bear rather than Smokey Bear but this is yet another Mandela effect that's shared by thousands of people across America the character's name has (1:08:24) never included the in its title which has caused a lot of confusion among those who are unyielding in their belief that they learned about Smokey the Bear while they were in school but this is once again very understandable Smokey Bear doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as Smokey the Bear does and hence this latter version has been firmly embedded in people's minds as the original and correct pronunciation despite what they may have been taught there is of course always the chance that some teachers misread the (1:08:52) information that they were teaching their classes and erroneously called them mascot Smokey the Bear leading many people to recount the wrong name well into their adulthood today Smokey Bear has his own website as well as his own Facebook page and he continues to serve as the mascot against forest fires many people will state that one of their favorite things to do as a child was to study their cereal boxes while sitting at the breakfast tables as a child not to mention hunting for the prize that these boxes used to contain (1:09:23) back in the day over the decades there have been hundreds if not thousands of different seral mascots each with their own way of convincing consumers that their brand was the best one to buy and that it was healthy to boot though this was rarely the case nonetheless we all became very familiar with these characters not only because we saw them at The Breakfast Table every day but also because they appeared in advertisements on television on posters and sometimes in real life cameos at family events one of the more famous and (1:09:53) memorable of these mascots is Tony the Tiger who serves as the face of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes kids were instantly fond of his catchphrase that announced that the cereal was great and his friendly demeanor further enhanced his likability but while you may remember him as the orange tiger with the red scarf small round ears and a black nose you might be surprised to learn that you have one of his most famous features wrong the fact is that Tony never had a black nose but instead always had a blue one in this (1:10:22) case it's easier than ever to understand why so many people share this false memory since a real tiger does indeed have a black nose but the fact is that Tony doesn't when one poster stated on Reddit that they definitely remember the Tiger's nose being black they were joined by many other users who also remember the same thing and some are very certain that it was changed somewhere down the line one commenter suggested that Tony's nose may have been a much darker shade of blue at some point and that this might have resulted (1:10:51) in people thinking it was actually black but once again this was never the case another user added they usually enjoy reading about the Mandela effect but when they came across this case they were forced to question their own sanity since they were certain that the tiger had a black nose only to learn recently that they were wrong in another thread one person stated that they saw Tony's blue nose while watching TV with their children and they asked why his nose had been changed from black to Blue but when (1:11:18) they did a bit of research they were shocked to learn that no change had ever been made in an effort to explain this strange phenomenon one person suggested that people may be confusing Tony the Tiger with another well-known children's character Hobs the tiger from the cartoon Calvin and Hobs if this is the case it certainly makes sense since the two characters share a lot of similarities other than the color of their noses they're both also lovable and very recognizable characters and so it isn't too far-fetched to think that (1:11:48) some people make it confused between the two then there's the suggestion that people are actually thinking of Tigger the tiger from Winnie the Pooh who has the ability to bounce around on his tail but this also seems unlikely since Tigger has a pink nose though it's sometimes shown as a light brown but the fact remains that Tony the Tiger has a blue nose and always has the Mandela effect is a strange phenomenon that can play tricks on people's minds and there sure to be many more examples in the (1:12:15) future but only time will tell which form they'll take Metallica is a heavy metal band that's known the world over and is considered by many people to be the greatest that the genre has ever produced to date they've released 11 Studio albums and continue to set the world on fire with their live performances While most Metallica songs are fast and include heavily distorted guitars they've also written a number of slower songs including the famous Nothing Else Matters and mama said to name but a few but most fans will tell (1:12:50) you that one of their slower songs stands ahead and shoulders Above the Rest Fade to black focuses on the tale of someone who's lost their Lust For Life and no longer sees a reason to keep on trying shortly after it was released the band caught some Flack for the song subject matter since the album on which it appears Ride the Lightning came out in the midst of the satanic Panic of the 1980s and many people felt that it was sending the wrong message to younger more impressionable fans today though it's seen as one of the band's alltime (1:13:22) anthems and it's since come to light that the song helped to many people through dark times in their lives as they've stated that after hearing it for the first time they finally understood that they weren't alone in feeling that life had lost its luster since this track is so famous among heavy metal fans it's surprising to learn that it's now the subject of a Mandela effect mystery 40 years after it was released and it's all thanks to one lyric that their certain has been changed somehow many people have stated that (1:13:52) they've listened to this song thousands of times over the years and they've always known the very first line to be life it seems to fade away but they've now come to learn that the band's vocalist James headfield actually sings Life it seems will fade away it's left many of the band's fans perplexed as their adamant that the line has been changed though others have assured them that the lyrics have always been the same and that they simply misheard or misremembered it it's also been pointed (1:14:22) out that seems to fade away is easier to anticipate F then seams will fade away and that this might be one of the reasons why people remember the Wrong lyric instead but there is however another lesser-known Mandela effect associated with the band though this one centers on their third album Master of Puppets which is also considered by many to be their best some people were under the impression that it only contains seven songs and when they find out that it actually has eight the last track being damage ink they're left completely (1:14:55) a Amed since they've listened to the album many times without noticing Richard Simmons is famous in the fitness world for his quirky upbeat personality and for revolutionizing the 1980s Fitness tape craze that took the World by storm but there are a few facts about Simmons that only some people are aware of for instance many people will be surprised to learned that he grew up in a religious household in New Orleans and once he'd finished high school he decided to enter a semin in Iowa with the aim of becoming a priest by this (1:15:29) stage he weighed 240 lb due to a food Obsession that he developed while he was still a child and this coupled with his over-the-top personality just didn't fit in with the lifestyle of a priest and so after 2 years he decided to look for a different career next he thought about pursuing a career in medicine but found that he didn't possess the Constitution for it he then worked as a Cosmetics executive and a fashion illustrator But ultimately decided that Fitness was his passion this realization came to him (1:16:00) thanks to an anonymous letter that was left on his car's windshield it stated that overweight people like him are more likely to pass away at a young age and he immediately decided to do something about his weight problem with the Mantra love yourself move your body and watch your portions he then started a series of Fitness videotapes called sweating to the oldies and soon his tapes were available at nearly all video stores and he was being likened to Fitness icons such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jane (1:16:30) Fonda he also chose to record his tapes with regular people who were also trying to lose weight rather than using fitness models that could be seen as intimidating this seemed to put his fans at ease and before long his career was soaring to unimaginable Heights but there is a less likable side to Simmons he's admitted that at one stage he used to confront people on the street and admonish them for being overweight and this trend continued when he opened his own restaurant in Los Angeles although he owned his own restaurant he stated (1:17:02) that he doesn't enjoy eating in them as he's often approached by fans who want to know whether the meal they ordered is healthy or not he also doesn't enjoy people looking over at his table to see what he ordered and hence he prefers to stay in his hotel room and orderers room service when he's traveling he's enjoyed a very fruitful career as a fitness Guru and has become a household name over the years but Simmons has been a topic of discussion on the internet lately for a different reason his Fitness tapes have (1:17:30) become the focus of a Mandela effect mystery that his fans can't explain since they've watched hours of his footage many people remember his flamboyant style while working out but when one tick tocker pointed out that he never wore a headband people couldn't believe what they were hearing since they thought it was one of his trademark accessories in fact the mental image of Simmons wearing a headband is so prominent that it's become a popular Halloween costume but the reality is that he never dawned one it is possible (1:18:00) that people are confusing the headband with a trademark wrist bands that he used to wear or that it's just assumed that he wore one since many people who work out use them to keep perspiration out of their eyes the hit movie Greece which was released in June of 1978 still ranks among some people's favorite movies ever made even though it was released nearly half a century ago the film was one of John trolas first and is considered by many to be the release that catapulted his career to the dizzying heights that eventually (1:18:31) turned him into a Hollywood Alister initially the film was slated to be released as an animated movie since it was the brainchild of Ralph bakshi who' become known for other animated releases that did very well but the film's co-creator Jim Jacobs didn't think this was a good idea and producer Alan Carr decided to film a live-action movie instead while the first face that comes to mind when we think about Greece is John trolas he wasn't the first choice to play the character of Denny Zuko since the role was originally offered to (1:19:04) Henry Winkler Winkler had attained the ultimate cool status thanks to his role in the series Happy Days in which he plays the fs but his recording schedule for the show was too hectic and he simply didn't have the time during an interview many years later he stated that he was glad he didn't take the role since John Travolta was perfect for it and played the character better than anyone else would have at the time the next famous face that comes to mind when discussing the movie is that of Olivia Newton John but that role almost went to (1:19:35) Carrie Fischer who had attained Fame for her role in Star Wars since the film's director Randall ker was friends with George Lucas Fischer's name was mentioned as a possibility for the role of Sandy but since kser couldn't judge her singing and dancing ability from the Star Wars film he decided to look for someone else and Newton John eventually landed the iconic role she'd already cemented her name as a great singer but she had her doubts about starting an acting career and at first was worried (1:20:03) that she may not be cut out for it but when she appeared on a screen test with Travolta she felt much more at ease and decided to accept the role not many people know that Travolta's sister Ellen also had a small role in the film Travolta spoke to the production team while Ellen was visiting the set one day and she was given the role of an actress who can be seen watching the dance contest while it's being broadcast on television it's an iconic movie that has stood the test of time thanks to the (1:20:31) likable characters and songs that it contains some fans have watched the film hundreds of times and will likely watch it hundreds more which makes the fact that it's now spoken about as a Mandela effect mystery all the more perplexing the mystery concerns the lyrics of one of the songs in the film called greased lightning this song wasn't just featured in the movie but after its release was also so constantly played on the radio but many people misremember the opening line why this car is automatic it's systematic it's (1:21:03) hydromatic why it's grease lightning as being the car is systematic hydromatic ultramatic well most people are adamant that these have always been the correct lyrics there are thousands who claim that the second instance used to be correct and that they've now been changed thanks to the Mandela effect in 18 90 Oscar Wild released a book that tells the tale of a young man who's concerned that his good youthful looks will deteriorate as he gets older something that weighs heavily on his mind since he believes beauty is the (1:21:37) only aspect of life that's worth anything while he's having his portrait painted by a man named basil Howard who considers gray to be his Muse he realizes that he needs to do something to keep his youthful looks but since there's no way of stopping the aging process all he can do is make a wish he wishes that he'll never age and that his image in the portrait will age instead a short time later he notices that the portrait has somehow changed and he then realizes that his image seems to be of a (1:22:06) slightly older version of himself but this isn't the only change the expression in the portrait has taken on a Sinister look with a strange sneer starting to appear on his face as time goes by the image in the portrait becomes more and more hideous and soon Gray's face becomes virtually unrecognizable by this point 18 years have passed and gray is still looking as young as the day the portrait was painted drawing suspicion from the people around him gray eventually decides to give up his life of Deery but when he returns to (1:22:38) look at the painting once more it's become even uglier he decides that he needs to return to a normal life so that he can age like everyone else does and in a fit of rage he stabs it with a sharpen blade while doing so he lets out a cry prompting his servants to come run into the room but when they do so they find a deceased elderly man that they don't recognize it's only when they look at the rings on the man's finger that they realize they're looking at gray and to their surprise the portrait has (1:23:08) returned to its original state showing gray as he looked when he was a young man it's an enthralling tale with many twists and turns and now an air of mystery has been added to it since it's being spoken about as a case of the Mandela effect and strangely It Centers on the book's title which should be well known to everyone who's read it given the plot of the book many people remember it being called The Portrait of Dorian Gray which would make sense since the backbone of the story focuses on the (1:23:36) painting and the fact that it ages while gray remains young hence they're taken aback when they find out that it's actually entitled The Picture of Dorian Gray and the word portrait has never appeared in the title some people have attempted to find an explanation for this Collective false memory with some suggesting that it might be because in some foreign translations it is indeed called the portrait rather than the picture but some of those who remember it differently state that this doesn't make any sense since a picture usually (1:24:07) refers to a photo rather than a portrait others have suggested that the misconception may stem from something as simple as the fact that both words begin with the letter P and that this is also an easy mistake to make some internet users have posted proof that the name used to be different since they found old articles in newspaper clippings talking about the Portrait of Dorian Gray but it's likely that these Publications merely made the same mistake and simply misremembered the title as thousands of other people (1:24:39) have in June of 1984 American singer and icon Bruce Springstein released what many people have considered to be the best album that he ever created Born in the USA while the album has now become part of the Mandela effect discussion this isn't the first time that it's been the subject of a misconception especially when it comes to the title track that took the World by storm quite understandably many people thought that the track was written as a kind of patriotic Anthem since Springstein was in fact Born in the USA but this wasn't (1:25:12) actually the case both Ronald Reagan and Walter Mondale referenced the song and speeches during their 1984 presidential campaigns without learning the true meaning behind the lyrics they were surprised when they were then informed that the song had nothing to do with patriotism and it's actually about a war veteran who fought in the Vietnam War and is now having a lot of difficulty reintegrating back into society a subject that many war vets can attest to one of the songs on the album called cover me was initially written for Donna (1:25:43) Summer who'd become very popular at the time but spring Sting's manager convinced him to perform the track for this album and would eventually reach number seven on the Billboard Chart before becoming one of the albums most famous songs another well-known track from the album Dancing in the Dark didn't even exist while the record was being recorded Springsteen's manager felt that the album needed one song that would definitely become a hit and told the singer that none of the songs recorded so far would hit the mark this resulted (1:26:13) in a heated argument between the pair but soon after Springsteen sat down and wrote the track that then reached number two in the charts and it's still considered by many to be one of the best songs that he ever wrote the accompanying music video features Courtney Cox before she became famous for her role in the hit TV sitcom Friends and not many people are aware of the fact that it was directed by Brian De Palma who's known for directing the movies Scarface Carrie and Caro's way in 1985 a single of the song My Hometown (1:26:45) was released and the cover art featured a photo of Springstein standing in the backyard of a house that he once lived in in New Jersey today it's become a popular tourist attraction especially among the singer fans but when it comes to the full album's cover artwork many people including fans who followed Springsteen's career for decades feel that something is a Miss since it doesn't contain the imagery they had in their minds all this time many people have taken to the internet to report that they remember the cover featuring (1:27:15) the singer's backside in jeans with a red bandan sticking out of his right back pocket and they have no way of explaining why this is no longer the case they've now discovered that he actually has a red baseball cap in his pocket and while many fans state that this has always been the case others are adamant that the image has been altered they blame the Mandela effect rather than a faulty memory since they claim to have looked at the image thousands of times and always saw a bandan rather than a cap but the reality is the bandan (1:27:45) never existed Romeo and Juliet is certainly William Shakespeare's most famous Play It's been performed a thousands of times on stages around the world and will be performed thousands more times since it's a classic tale of forbidden love that ends with an unspeakable tragedy for those who haven't read the play or attended a performance it's about a young man Romeo and a young woman Juliet who fall in love while attending a party at Juliet's father's house in Verona but as the night goes on they realize that (1:28:17) they're from two households that are at loggerheads the monu and the capulets and hence there's no way for them to be together without angering their respective families but they've fallen so deeply in love that they decide to see each other in secret and eventually decide to get married without their family's consent it all goes very wrong in the end as they both end up needlessly losing their lives things to a misunderstanding over a vial of poison and a sharpened blade one of the most iconic scenes in the play occurs after (1:28:48) the party where the couple met is over Juliet walks onto the balcony outside her room and delivers the line oh Romeo Romeo where art thou Romeo most people assume that she's already missing Romeo and therefore is asking where he's disappeared to but this is a misconception since she's actually asking why he's Romeo rather than where he is it's a confusing line that refers to the fact that he's part of the monague family which becomes apparent in the next line when she says deny thy father and refuse thy name which means (1:29:21) that she wishes him to denounce his family so that they can beat together she goes on to say that if he refuses to do this she'll renounce her family the culas as long as he swears to be with her forever the scene has been reenacted in countless Productions of Romeo and Juliet and it almost always features the iconic balcony but this is where many people feel the Mandela effect has come into play ask anyone about this scene and the most likely reply that Juliet stands on her balcony looking for Lauren while pining for Romeo but the the fact (1:29:54) is this never happened in the original version of the play internet users have expressed their shock and surprise at learning that she actually just stands in her room's window while delivering these lines and that there was never any balcony involved keep in mind that shakespear was born in 1564 and Stratford upon Avon in England and considering the fact that balconies didn't become popular in that country until the start of the 19th century it's likely he'd never even seen one and hence would not have included won in any (1:30:25) of his plays to many people this seems almost Unthinkable since the image of Juliet standing on her balcony has been recreated so many times that it's become one of the play's most famous scenes since the play has been read millions of times some people believe that it's now been changed by the Mandela effect with the balcony being changed to a mere window but historians are adamant that no balcony was ever mentioned and this is merely a case of a shared false memory one of history's most disgusted (1:30:57) Mysteries is the identity of the Man in the Iron Mask a prisoner who was held at the bastile in Paris France as well as a few other well-known prisons in the country that very figure has been the subject of many books and movies since each one speculating on who he could have been and why he was ordered to spend time in jail not to mention why he was forced to wear a mask that concealed his identity as with other well-known historical but unidentified historical figures such as Jack the Ripper many people have attempted to discover the (1:31:28) prisoner's true identity and Through the Years many candidates have been suggested first it was thought that he may have been a member of the British royal family and that his face was kept hidden so that the family's name wouldn't be damaged by his arrest and prison sentence but this has never been sufficiently proven other suggestions included speculation that he might have been a disgraced French general or that the prisoner was the well-known playright Jean batist pan who's better known by his stage name molier but it (1:31:57) was then discovered that there could only really be two candidates since only two people were imprisoned during the time that the man in the mask was in custody the first is a man named erola maoli whose not have betrayed King Louis the 14th while he was in the process of certain political negotiations in the 1670s this led to him being kidnapped and put in prison for a very long time since the man in the mask was buried under the pseudonym maroli which sounds a lot like matoli many people feel that this was a clue to his real identity and (1:32:30) since both Louis the 15 and Louis the 14th stated that the prisoner was Italian he became a very likely candidate but it then came to light that matoli couldn't possibly have been the man in The Mask since he passed away in 1694 and since the unknown prisoner was only buried 9 years later it was certain that it wasn't him the next likely candidate was usach dogger who was arrested in 1669 many people feel that he could be the Man in the Iron Mask since his arrest included instructions that he was not to speak to anyone except if he (1:33:03) needed something and if he spoke without permission his life was to be ended added to this is the fact that he was once seen being transported to a different prison while sitting in a covered chair so that no one could see his face but then there's the problem with the prisoner's real name it isn't known whether usach dogger was his real name or if it was just a pseudonym used to keep his true identity hidden from members of the public some historians have suggested that he somehow became embroiled in a political Scandal or that (1:33:33) he was a nobleman who was arrested for his debok lifestyle but the truth is that his real identity remains unknown and it may never be discovered what is known is that the prisoner was first held at pinolo in pedmont Italy until 1681 after which he was transferred to several other prisons he was finally brought to the bastile in France in September of 1686 and he would remain there until he passed away on the 19th of November 1703 his burial took place the very next day and it was said that he was around 45 years old but this did little to (1:34:08) solve the mystery of who the man behind the mask was while this mystery is still very much alive the case is now being included in lists regarding the Mandela effect and it's thought to be mostly thanks to later depictions of the tale it would make sense for anyone to assume that the prisoner was ordered to wear an Iron Mask though we still have no idea why this was done but any historian with their salt will tell you that this simply wasn't the case the truth is that he never wore a mask made of iron but (1:34:39) rather his mask was made a velvet it's believed that this misconception is thanks to a French writer who described the mask as iron it's also said that the prisoner likely didn't have to wear the mask permanently as most people would assume but that he would be told to put it on when he was allowed out of his cell since this would not have happened very often it's far more likely that he spent most of his time in prison without it when it comes to the Mandela effect company logos are at the Forefront of (1:35:09) things that are said to have changed without explanation and some of these examples have left people astounded since they see them on a near daily basis a good example of this is the fact that the Fruit of the Loom logo which is a very well-known logo to millions of people doesn't contain a cornucopia in the logo as many people remember this is without a doubt one of the most spoken about Mandela effect Mysteries out there since it's mentioned more often than most others some people have claimed to have found old advertisements or photos (1:35:40) of the logo that do include the basket something they refer to as residual proof but the company has debunked these claims stating that the logo has always been the same and that it never contained a cornucopia in its entire history other famous examples include the spelling of the chocolate brand KitKat which contains no hyphen between the two words despite the insistence of many people who believe it once did until the Mandela effect changed it to what it is today then there's the case of the double stuff Oreo which once again (1:36:12) concerns the product's spelling it's an easy mistake to make however since one would assume that it's spelled double stuff but the fact is that it only contains one F in the name rather than the usual too lastly there's the case of the famous cereal Fruit Loops which many people insist used to be spelled with the traditional spelling of the word fruit when the reality is that Kelloggs decided to go with the more fun version which is spelled f r o o t in recent times another famous logo has made its (1:36:43) way onto Mandela effect discussion boards since people think that the famous car manufacturer Volvo has changed their logo and that it's only now being noticed they believe it used to consist of a single circle with the company's name written across it but they're left scratching their heads when they learn that it also contains an arrow that points upward in to the right this has been the company's logo for more than eight decades and it's never been altered but there are many people who feel that they remember the true (1:37:11) logo and that the arrow is a new addition that never used to exist or at least not in this reality it's been suggested that they're confusing the Volvo logo with that of another famous car manufacturer Nissan since its logo is very similar to Volvos except that it didn't contain the now famous Arrow still it's left many people perplexed since they refuse to admit that their memories are wrong and they can only attribute this to the Mandela effect you would be hardpressed to find someone in your circle of friends who (1:37:44) hasn't seen the original Tarzan movie entitled Tarzan of the Apes since it has over the course of 106 years spawned several other Tarzan movies movies books and Children's shows it may be hard to believe but before the film was released the original writer of the tale Edgar Rice burough had no money to his name and he was employed as a pencil sharpener salesman while he was trying his best to make ends me for his family his efforts were in vain as this Venture never took off but he saw it as a blessing in (1:38:16) disguise since he had more time to pursue his true passion writing and resulted in the famous book being created following the success of his book burough attempted to make the most of it by creating further Tarzan stories and even comic strips this resulted in a type of Tarzan Mania at the time and before long Tarzan toys were on store shelves stories were being broadcast on the radio and tarzen films were being made one of these was released in 1932 and it starred a former Olympic swimmer Johnny Weiss Muller and the lead role is (1:38:50) Tarzan the movie premiered in New York and it was well received by audience a es who were delighted to have a visual representation of the now famous character he would go on to star in several other Tarzan movies between then and 1948 a time span of 16 years and many people still consider him to be the ultimate depiction of the character and his iconic yell it's hard to think of the Tarzan franchise without thinking of the iconic line that Tarzan delivers upon meeting a normal human a woman named Jane for the first time it's been (1:39:24) quoted millions of times as me tarzen eug Jane but once again the fact is this line was never spoken in the original or any subsequent films that featured Weiss M this has come as a shock to many people though they can be forgiven for believing this line was spoken since the movie was released a very long time ago and since it's been misquoted millions of times while many fans are adamant that this is the result of the Mandela effect the truth is likely far more mundane it's believed that the quote stems from an interview with Weiss (1:39:56) Muller that was published in photoplay magazine in 1932 while joking with the reporter he quipped quote I don't have to act in Tarzan the eight-man I just said me Tarzan you J and while this was by no means meant to be taken seriously the quote stuck and is still repeated regularly today usually to imply that someone is of low intelligence further cementing the line in people's mind was a remark made by Weiss Muller's wife Lupe VES who was also an actress in an interview she also jokingly remarked that she didn't speak (1:40:30) English very well since she was married to a man that could only say me Tarzan you Jane while the line will be repeated Millions more times in the future it's now certain that it was never part of any Tarzan book or movie but it remains synonymous with the famous Vine swinging hero the Lincoln Memorial is very well known to most Americans since it pays homage to what many people consider to be one of the country's greatest ever presidents Abraham Lincoln who was responsible for the abolishment of slavery when he issued the Emancipation (1:41:04) Proclamation the site contains 87 steps that lead to the iconic statue they represent a call back to one of Lincoln's most famous speeches the Gettysburg Address which contains the line four score and 7 years ago since a score equals 20 four score would equal 80 and adding seven would bring the total to 87 the site of the memorial is located on reclaimed Marshland that's situated close to the pomac river a decision that didn't sit well with everyone since many other politicians stated that they would have preferred it (1:41:37) to be placed in a more prominent area the statue was completed in 1922 and officially unveiled on the 30th of May of that year at the time only one of Lincoln's children Robert Todd Lincoln was still living and he attended the unveiling ceremony along with more than half a million other people ironically people who attended were forced to stay in segregated groups despite the memorial being in honor of a man known as the great emancipator not many people know that it drew inspiration from the pantheon which (1:42:09) is located in Rome the columns here however are constructed from Colorado marble and in total it contains 36 one of each of the Union states that existed at the time as for the Statue of Lincoln itself it was designed by Daniel Chester French and is also constructed of Colorado marble though it sits on a pedestal of Tennessee marble once the design was finished it was handed over to the picher brothers who hailed from New York and they took on the daunting task of carving the statue out of marble it's actually made up of 28 separate (1:42:42) pieces that were then put together at the site and when it was finally finished it stood an impressive 19 ft tall on the South Wall you'll find an inscription of Lincoln's gettyburg address and on the opposite side you can see his inaugural address the memorial has been featured in magazines on TV shows in movies and it's one of the most recognizable memorials in all of America this makes it all the more baffling that it's come to light that many people have shared a false memory of the statue (1:43:12) itself people have posted to Reddit Facebook and many other social media platforms that they remember both the former president's hands being relaxed and open only to recently discover that this wasn't the case case a closer look at the photos of the memorial reveals that one of Lincoln's hands is indeed an a fist but the other is far more relaxed and hangs over the front of his armrest with one finger set higher than the rest many people have replied that they remember the same thing and that they (1:43:41) visited the statue in person they claim that this is a case where the Mandela effect has struck once again suggesting that our reality isn't as it was before and that we're set to see many more changes in the future
