Where Is Yesterday? (The Weird Metaphysics Of The Past)

"Where Is Yesterday? (The Weird Metaphysics Of The Past)"
Transcript: "(00:01) I believe that one of the most damaging ideas that took root within the psyche of humanity is this belief or idea that time is passing we typically divide everything up into three categories you have the future the present and the past but you don't have to think very long to see that none of these categories actually mean anything you have the future which is quite literally hypothetical and unknowable you have the present moment which makes absolutely no sense to us this is the conscious experience we still have no idea what to (00:44) do with it and then you have the past this is our big proof that anything is actually happening at all we obviously can't see into the future so we are constantly checking or pinging the past and this constant game of Spot the Difference to see if anything is actually changing and if something isn't exactly the same way how we last perceived it we say that something happened this is our big proof that things are actually happening or is it is anything actually occurring I know that this already sounds a tad bit out (01:24) there but I want to explore and try and demystify in this video this concept of the past because I'm starting to believe that it actually holds the key or the secret to understanding Consciousness and the first question that I find myself asking about the past isn't what is it that question follows naturally a tad bit later but it's where is it where exactly is the past because despite the fact that it is the only thing that we are able to cling to to prove that anything is actually real from our (02:05) perspective it is completely invisible it completely disappears when I got up this morning and I messed up my sheet I left out of the room for a while and when I came back my sheets were still messed up but I wasn't there messing them up if it weren't for the fact that I knew they were like that because of me I would think you know a ghost was in the house my entire reality would fall apart and perhaps this is what it's like to have some type of mental degenerative disease Alzheimer's or something like (02:40) that this entire construct of the past is held in place by memories my memory of me doing this act is the only thing that is able to make reality makes sense and yes I know laws of physics blah blah blah the fact fact of the matter is it's all stored within memory if I forgot that an object at rest stays at rest then this reality would appear nonsensical to me it is this word memory that is the star of the show and what I am beginning to believe is that all of reality is some kind of memory and this term memory that I'm using is a bit (03:26) tricky to sufficiently express but it is anthropocentric I'm not necessarily referring to our ability to recall information but rather information in and of itself what exactly is it all of reality is comprised up of information and information is some kind of memory I was trying to explain this in my previous video I've been going on this tiate about information for quite some time now within information Theory you have data and you have information data is just chaotic noise it is nonsensical tidbits of things once this chaotic (04:12) noise becomes pattern it becomes information information is just patterns information patterns connections relationships they all mean the same thing and something happens when something becomes information when something becomes a pattern it cannot change a pattern is something that cannot change by our only definition of it it is something that consistently repeats all information cannot change or it ceases to be information and once we discern anything as pattern something odd happens it gets lumped into the past (04:56) we sort of toss it into the past this cons constuct or idea of past begins to emerge what the past is is something that cannot change and all things that we perceive as being unchanging gets thrown into that domain the past is more like this Virtual Enterprise of patterns or information it is frozen in time it cannot change and I guess if I had to summarize this idea that I'm trying to get across in a few es it would be that whenever something new happens the past gets bigger whenever you experience anything whenever you learn anything you (05:41) are contributing to the Past because the only thing that you are able to experience is information Consciousness is the apprehension of patterns one of my commenters on a recent video said something similar that the human being is an information Gathering machine I guess it depends on how you define machine but the conscious experience appears to be this unpatterned this this chaos that is being converted into order information patterns however you want to phrase it and once this occurs it gets dumped into the past it becomes stored (06:21) as memory and for us for whatever reason this chaotic domain this realm of potentiality of UND decidedness this unknown is what we call the future if you are a more psychedelic type who often tend to be the people that are interested in these sorts of topics the late Terrence McKenna would probably say it's novelty if you're a normal person you would just say that time is passing but what we experience as time passing is this chaotic domain of the future being revealed to us and I use this term revealed intentionally because I (07:02) ultimately believe that reality is timeless or in other words all of reality is information all of reality is pattern and patterns don't change they stay the same forever we see this within chaos theory and statistics with Central limit theorem that these chaotic systems these things that we believe don't have any rme or Reason to them these things that don't appear to follow any patterns are indeed patterned they're just patterns that we are not yet able to see reality is already patterned it is (07:43) already Timeless and it appears that the conscious experience is the Enterprise of seeing more and more of these patterns from our perspective it looks like we are learning more but I believe that more is actually being revealed to us this chaotic or unknown domain of the future isn't being discovered but rather it's being remembered and we are sort of like these living Memories We are these funnels through which this data gets compiled into patterns our organic body is quite literally a series or compilation of patterns but there is (08:25) some kind of ghost in the machine there is something more to it where it's remembering the future and this remembering of the future is what we call experience what we call Consciousness and as I mentioned this isn't really anthropocentric this isn't about you forgetting where you left your car keys there is some deeper more fundamental component at play I'm not sure if you can call it you know generalized Consciousness Big C consciousness and psychism you take your pick but The Human Experience human (09:05) beings we are just an iteration of this greater overarching process I think that the stage for this process is much larger than everyone gives it credit for we really like to restrict things to this more human domain of understanding but I ultimately believe that there are folds and pockets of this process that are unfolding in all kinds of cooky and wild ways or in other words what it means for something to happen is different in different places to put it a different way the same way we view the future the same way that we view time (09:45) passing there are domains or pockets of reality where that's different it's something that is unique to them or in other words there are places where there are things that learn differently what it means for something to be a pattern is presented to them differently I don't know if you want to call it different intelligences alien intelligences higher intelligences different dimensions different domains Divine realm Heaven hell I have no idea but my main point is that this Human Experience isn't all that there is to (10:26) the greater scheme of reality reality is fractalized it is something that is being itself in different ways over and over again and I think that the healthiest way about conceptualizing this greater arching Consciousness if you want to call it is that we are nothing like it it is completely alien to us but it is everything like us from a statistical lens within set theory it is the one thing that cannot exist the set that contains all other sets including itself perhaps there is a giant caveat Perhaps it is just some (11:10) giant unbounded said it doesn't contain itself you know within ticism this is the the monad It is believed to be this sort of like this Singularity it is where all being comes from and it was so great that it literally couldn't contain itself and began overflowing pouring out and this is how we have reality today but getting back on topic on this subject of memory I believe that the past never really goes away is as I stated in my previous video it is still here we are all living in it it's why this world doesn't appear completely (11:51) alien to you at all times it's kind of as I mentioned with Alzheimer's it's here it just exists in some kind of virtual State that's difficult for me to put into words everything that happened yesterday is still here we are all sort of standing on top of it it is crystallized beneath our feet if everything that happened yesterday wasn't here we would just fall into some sort of chaotic nonsensical state it would be this planet-wide version of Alzheimer's disease and it isn't just (12:27) Human Society reality is self is hosting this memory I have no idea how many birds landed on the tree outside of my apartment but that particular question has an answer the information is still out there somewhere no information is lost not one single nanobyte and to wrap this video up similar to how a computer functions I think that memory takes up space it takes up some kind of space and it eventually reaches a point where it maxes out and at that point nothing else is able to be processed nothing else is (13:10) able to happen and this applies to us that somehow some way this same motif of people throughout history claiming that there is some end some kind of collision transition there is something that is happening that is ultim timately coming to an end when everything is certain nothing else is possible or as I commonly phrase it on this channel if you knew everything there would be nothing left to imagine whatever this Cosmic factor is this being it wanted to imagine it wanted to forget so that it could experience possibility again and (13:53) when this dance that is doing with itself is over it will be left with all that there ever was bu itself nothing but memories we are all going to experience this once you reach the end of your life when it's time to say goodbye to this world you're going to realize that it was just you this whole time you can't bring anyone with you and all you'll be left with is memories because it's all that you ever were it's all that anything actually is but I'm going to end the video here I to dive (14:30) deeper into this topic on my members platform and I'm going to put the video on locals as well so if you are interested in this specific kind of insight consider supporting the channel or if you just like my content in general all donations all contributions are greatly appreciated I'm also going to be doing some new things over on the members platform as well as my other social media Avenue so cons consider following me on those places if you want to keep up with me I moved into a new apartment which I really enjoy but it (15:06) has its own hosts of different sounds and Acoustics and I also move closer to a train and while it's good for me I enjoy the the sound of the train passing by you may hear different sounds I may sound different sonically on this video so keep that in mind uh I think that's all I wanted to talk about on this video and until next time y'all have a blessed day"

The STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT

Transcript:
(00:00) I'm sorry no no no my immigrant mother just called me on the phone innocently asking me if she should start carrying her passport in case they start doing Mass deportations to prove that she's a [Music] citizen so [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] he cheated he cheated he cheated so right now now there are a bunch of people losing their minds due
(01:06) to the recent election results honestly I've never seen anything like it some people had no idea that they were surrounded by people who couldn't wait to vote for Trump and fast they couldn't wait the voters were not messing around this time they were like nope all this crap we've been going through Ends Tonight and now people have been crying on the internet having mental breakdowns and the like and I guess this would be the Fallout period for those who have gotten themselves emotionally invested in
(01:44) this and as I am watching this happen as I am watching people have a fit over this election I reminded of something which is the topic of the day the Stanford Prison experience after a few years of the media telling you what's what it has become very easy for many people to lose touch with reality and lose their marbles because they were led into believing a lie it's all right it's all right I feel that way too it's all right we feel that way together okay let it out let it out so the Stanford Prison Experiment was a
(03:08) psychological study conducted in 1971 by Dr Philip zimbardo a professor at Stanford University to examine the effects of perceived power and authority on human behavior the study aimed to understand how people would act if they were placed in roles with significant power differences specifically as guards or prisoners now the experiment recruited 24 male college students who were deemed psychologically healthy and stable they were randomly assigned to the roles of the either guards or prisoners in a mock prison setup in the basement of the
(03:49) Stanford psychology department participants who were assigned as prisoners wore uniforms and were given identification numbers while those assigned as guards wore uniforms reflective sunglasses to prevent eye contact and carried batons giving them a authoritative appearance the initial plan was for the experiment to last two weeks so the participants quickly adapted to their assigned roles with guards becoming authoritarian and in many cases aggressive while prisoners became submissive and distressed within days the guards begin
(04:35) to enforce the rules they begin to psychologically torment the prisoners and cruel Behavior increased some of the guards handed out severe punishments including solitary confinement and degrading task without any ideas coming from the experimenters the prisoners soon begin to show signs of emotional breakdowns stress severe anxiety some had to be released early because they couldn't cope with the harsh treatment now Dr zardo Who also acted as the prison superintendent became so immersed in the experiment he ignored the extent of harm
(05:22) being inflicted it wasn't until an outside Observer Dr Christina masslock expressed concerned about the ethics of the experiment and so zimbardo decided to terminate the experiment early the study was stopped after just 6 days this experiment demonstrated that under certain circumstances Ordinary People could engage in abusive behaviors if they perceived it as part of their role or Duty I'll say that again Ordinary People could engage in abusive behaviors if they perceived it as part of their role or Duty so when you go out and see people
(06:09) in the world and you wonder why people who exhibit certain behaviors have a certain look attached to that behavior you know like a stereotype this is why when you see people freaking out about the election results by the way many of these people have not only lost their minds they've lost some friends some of them have lost their Partners some people have lost social media followers some people are losing subscribers and paid subscribers some of them from what I've been hearing gave up living after the election they just
(06:54) ended it and I'm praying not too many people took that option perception is powerful and you can use perception to your advantage when I walk out the house dressed in a suit everyone's perception of me is different from their perception of me if I didn't I get free stuff the way I get treated by people in general is totally different it almost makes me mad to know that just wearing certain clothing will affect someone's Behavior toward you it's really quite amazing actually and we can't help it I
(07:39) bet you that if I took a large group of people and put them all in Superman costumes I bet some of those people are going to end up getting injured because they lost themselves in the role yes that's how much faith I have in people these days now let me give you a day-by-day breakdown of the events that took place during the experiment on day one the participants were unexpectedly arrested at their homes by actual local police officers who took them to a real police station for fingerprinting and booking they were then blindfolded and
(08:22) transported to the Stanford County Jail a simulated prison in the basement of the psychology department a on arrival the prisoners were stripped deloused and assigned numbers each prisoner was issued a uniform and had a chain placed around one ankle as a symbol of their captivity guards were instructed to establish a sense of order by enforcing specific rules for the prisoners at this stage the guards were not yet aggressive and the prisoners were mainly adjusting to their new roles day day two early on day two the prisoners resisted by
(09:06) barricading themselves in their cells and refusing to follow the guard's instructions such as refusing to come out for roll call they also took off their assigned identification numbers so in response the guards saw this as a challenge to their Authority and so they used fire extinguishers to push prisoners away from the all doors and then physically restrain some prisoners then the guards began isolating and disciplining the leaders of the Rebellion now the guards started enforcing privileges for compliant
(09:43) prisoners and used dehumanizing techniques to control Behavior one cell was designated to be the privileged cell where prisoners who obeyed received better food and rest and non-compliant prisoners Reed punishments such as loss of mattress Privileges and were sometimes forced to sleep on the floor on day three the guards intensified their tactics including more frequent roll calls even in the middle of the night to keep prisoners awake and disoriented psychological abuse increased with guards making prisoners
(10:27) perform humiliating tasks like clean cleaning toilets with their bare hands zimbardo and his team heard a rumor that the prisoners were planning an escape this led to the increased security and added stress on the prisoners which included moving some to an actual police holding cell temporarily some of the guards sought ways to divide and control prisoners so they convinced certain prisoners to as informance creating of course distrust and further isolating individuals now on day four multiple prisoners begin to experience severe
(11:14) emotional distress to simulate real prison conditions zardo allowed a visiting day where prisoners family members could briefly see them right however the guards cleaned up the entire environment and instructed prisoners to smile and behave well in front of their families the guards also observed the family visits and after the family members left the guards retaliated by intensifying the mistreatment of the prisoners using sleep deprivation and forced physical exercises as punishment now on day five the guards started implementing more
(12:03) degrading activities such as forcing prisoners to simulate sexual acts and that's all it took 5 days and they have already resorted to sexual depravity adding a humiliating layer to the abuse these actions were aimed at breaking the prisoners spirits and solidifying the guards dominance and the power Dynamic continued to affect both groups deeply as a result of this several prisoners showed extreme anxiety depression and a sense of hopelessness while some guards became increasingly sadistic enjoying the sense
(12:51) of power and control they wielded over the prisoners it was allowed to continue up until the next day when Dr Christina mlock zimbardo's girlfriend visited the experiment and was disturbed by the guard's Behavior and the suffering of the prisoners so she questioned the morality and ethics of the experiment and zimbardo stopped it you can really see the hate come out of people when we have things like this happen it happened during the pandemic and now again with this past election and I can see see that people can truly
(13:30) be hypnotized by what's in the media all media folks a major shift is happening right now as a result of that election crying over Trump if they only knew do you guys remember me mentioning before that whoever is elected president will definitely have an impact on what happens to other countries around the world well take a look at this so I have this video I want to show you guys and well just take a look at this's not even president yet have you seen what's happened in the last 48 hours the misogynist appoints the first

This lecture serves as an introduction to the world of secret societies, using a captivating narrative style and diverse examples to highlight their pervasive presence throughout history and across cultures.

Detailed Bullet Points:

  • The Blackburn Cult:
    • The story of Willa Rhoads, a 16-year-old girl who died and was secretly kept by her parents for five years under the influence of a cult leader, May Otis Blackburn.
    • Blackburn led the Divine Order of the Royal Arms of the Great Eleven, which promised resurrection and immortality.
    • The cult engaged in bizarre rituals, animal sacrifices, and possibly even human sacrifices.
    • The story raises questions about the nature of cults, their beliefs, and the motivations of their leaders and followers.
  • Defining Secret Societies:
    • Secret societies are not always secret in their existence, but rather in their practices and beliefs.
    • They are selective in their membership, offering a sense of exclusivity and belonging.
    • They promise special knowledge, status, or power to their initiates, attracting those seeking meaning and purpose.
    • They often function as artificial families, fostering strong bonds and loyalty among members.
  • Diverse Examples:
    • The Ona people of Tierra del Fuego, whose all-male secret society aimed to control spiritual power and, consequently, society itself.
    • The medieval Dolcinians, a religious sect that challenged authority and engaged in violence, raising questions about the justification of means by ends.
    • The E Clampus Vitus, a fraternal organization in the Wild West that satirized established societies while also contributing to community and historical preservation.
    • Modern-day Disney social clubs, demonstrating the continued appeal of exclusivity and shared passion, while also highlighting the potential for conflict and negative consequences.

Essay Description:

This lecture challenges the conventional notion of secret societies as hidden and sinister organizations, revealing their diverse forms and motivations. It explores the complex interplay between secrecy, power, belief, and belonging, raising questions about the human desire for meaning and connection. The examples presented, ranging from ancient rituals to modern fandoms, demonstrate the enduring appeal of secret societies across cultures and time periods.

Obscure, Abstract, and Out-of-the-Box Thoughts:

  • The cyclical nature of power: The Ona legend of the overthrow of the female order suggests a cyclical struggle for power between genders, with each seeking to control access to spiritual forces. This raises questions about the inherent power dynamics within societies and the potential for shifts in dominance.
  • The fine line between belief and delusion: The Blackburn Cult's belief in resurrection and immortality highlights the power of belief to shape reality, even in the face of death. It also raises questions about the ethical implications of exploiting such beliefs for personal gain or control.
  • The subversive power of humor: The E Clampus Vitus' satirical approach to established societies reveals the potential for humor to challenge authority and social norms. It also suggests that secret societies can function as spaces for social commentary and critique.
  • The unintended consequences of fandom: The Disney social clubs demonstrate how passionate enthusiasm can lead to unexpected outcomes, including conflict and exclusion. This raises questions about the boundaries between fandom and obsession, and the potential for group dynamics to turn negative.

Conclusion:

This lecture offers a thought-provoking exploration of secret societies, challenging preconceptions and raising important questions about human behavior and motivation. It encourages viewers to look beyond the stereotypes and consider the complex and multifaceted nature of these organizations throughout history. By examining the diverse forms and functions of secret societies, we can gain a deeper understanding of the human desire for belonging, meaning, and power.

Essay Description:

This video explores the hidden lives and beliefs of some of history's most famous scientists, including Pythagoras, Sir Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, and Albert Einstein. It reveals that these men were not only brilliant scientists but also deeply involved in the occult, alchemy, and secret societies. • Some believe that Blavatsky's work inspired his theory of relativity.
    • His "miracle year" of 1905, during which he made groundbreaking discoveries, remains a source of mystery.

Obscure, abstract, and out-of-the-box thoughts:

  • The video suggests that the pursuit of knowledge and the pursuit of the occult may not be mutually exclusive.
  • It challenges the idea that science and spirituality are diametrically opposed.
  • It raises the possibility that secret societies have played a more significant role in shaping history than we realize.
  • It asks us to consider whether the truth should be confined to a chosen few or available to everyone.
  • It invites us to question the official narratives we have been taught about history and its most famous figures.

Conclusion

The video offers a thought-provoking exploration of the hidden lives and beliefs of some of history's most famous scientists. It challenges us to reconsider our understanding of these figures and the nature of knowledge itself.
